Tactical Instructor — United Defense Tactical Scottsdale

United Defense Tactical Scottsdale is hiring a Tactical Instructor to deliver reality-based training in the only civilian program of its kind. We are the #5 UDT location in the country and #1 outside Arizona — a laser-based, simulator-driven system built by Special Forces and law-enforcement veterans. This is not a range job. It's a curriculum-driven, member-focused role that changes how everyday people respond under stress.

What You'll Teach

Threat-based reality simulator — force-on-force with laser weapons, decision-making under stress

CO2 CQB — close-quarters scenario training in our indoor bays

Self-defense and combatives — CQC and BJJ fundamentals (cross-training welcomed)

8-level curriculum — White through Black Elite, with patches and clear progression
-
Live-fire test-outs — limited, structured sessions at partner ranges (Ben Avery + indoor) tied to team-color advancement
What The Role Actually Looks Like

Teach group classes, private sessions, and level test-outs on assigned shifts

Follow the UDT curriculum — deliver it consistently, you don't need to build it

Own check-in / check-out every shift (SOP-driven: cleanliness, gear, equipment)

Give members honest feedback that moves them forward

Support the floor: gear prep, range setup, cleaning, inventory rotation

Monthly 1-on-1 with the AGM to review scorecard and class utilization
What We Need From You
-
3+ years as a firearms instructor, military, or law enforcement (or equivalent teaching under stress)

Confident instruction across handguns, rifles, and shotguns
-
Teach beginners without intimidation and advanced shooters without ego
-
Calm under pressure — members range from first-timers to seasoned operators
-
Comfortable in simulator, CO2, and outdoor live-fire environments
-
AZ CCW or willingness to obtain within 60 days
-
NRA, USCCA, AZPOST, or equivalent — required or willing to obtain
-
Cross-discipline (BJJ, CQC, combat conditioning, self-defense) is a plus and factors into starting pay
Compensation
-
Starting at $23+/hr W-2, based on experience and cross-discipline capability
-
Hours vary by shift assignment; consistent bench roles available

On-the-clock includes teaching, check-in/out, and required admin
Schedule

Full-time: 40 hrs/week minimum expected
-
Part-time: regular, reliable availability required — we build the schedule around your set availability

Weekends are peak — Weekend availability expected for both
